Veterans Success Center

Mission Statement

The Veterans Success Center (VSC) at UC Davis is committed to providing services to student veterans, service members and dependents of the Armed Services. We aspire to foster academic excellence of the whole student, from the beginning and beyond, while creating an environment of learning, networking, engagement, diversity and inclusion. We provide students a welcoming space, professional and peer advising, guidance with educational benefits and engagement opportunities that span the University and the larger Davis community. Consider the VSC your first stop shop.

A message from the Director of Transfer and Veteran Services

Welcome to the Veterans Success Center (VSC) at UC Davis!  Newly opened in spring 2017, the VSC is the culmination of planning and effort by veteran students who wrote the first proposal for a standalone veterans center, and additional supporters who believed that through service, commitment and sacrifice, veterans deserved their own campus home. The VSC is a spacious and active center where veterans, dependents and service members can study, meet, or just relax between classes. First time visitors to the VSC often come in to ask questions about the VA benefits process and how to properly set up their benefits.  VA benefits are the foundation to your continuing success at UC Davis, but the VSC also strives to support the whole student from the time you matriculate to graduation and beyond. Each year we offer specialized orientations for both our veteran and dependent communities that connect students to the academic, social and personal support services that they need to ensure their success. The VSC’s two-unit transitional course will help you adjust to classroom rigor, sharpen your study skills, and connect you to the valuable campus resources that will support your academic and personal success.  These are just a few of the services and opportunities the VSC offers. I invite you to explore the website and to visit the center where you can personally meet the VSC Coordinator and Veterans Certifying Official/Retention Adviser who will be happy to meet you and answer any questions you have.

Warm regards,

Hope M. Medina, Ph.D.
