Foster Youth Ally Training

We are very pleased and excited to announce the launching of our Foster Youth Ally Training!

Why a Foster Youth Ally Training?  More and more foster youth are entering higher education.  It is critical to understand what it means to be a current/former foster youth, the impact of their experiences, and ways to support their goals of achieving a 4-year degree.

Who should attend a Foster Youth Ally Training?

  • University administrators, faculty, staff, and student leaders that work with students that may have experienced foster care or want to learn more about supporting foster youth on our campus
  • University administrators, faculty and staff that are interested in being a mentor in the Guardian Scholars Program.  Starting Fall 2019, all new mentors MUST have attended a Foster Youth Ally Training before attending a Mentor Training.  Two trainings are offered this quarter, 1-2 will be offered in Spring Quarter, 1 training will be offered during the summer.
  • University administrators, faculty, and staff that want to become a Friend of the Guardian Scholars Program.

Two trainings will be offered this quarter (30 max participants).  You can sign up through the UC Learning Center. For questions, please reach out to Valeri Garcia.
