We understand the campus directives about remote learning raises some questions. Student Affairs has created and will be updating a page with frequently asked questions for students.

FAQs for Families

  • What should I bring for registration?
  • Be sure to bring a government issued ID such as an state ID card, driver's license, passport, permanent resident card, etc. Students should also bring any amenities they require for their dorm. A list will be provided in their acceptance package

  • Where will students be staying?
  • Students will be staying in the residence halls. This year students will be staying the Tercero Residence Hall Area. 

  • Will the students receive meals?
  • Yes. Students will be provided with 3 meals a day as part of the program. Any outside meals will be out of the student's pocket. 

  • Can I mail items to my student?
  • Yes. Items can be mailed to the Segundo Service Desk. 

  • Can they leave for the weekend?
  • No. STEP is a full time commitment so students are required to take full advantage of the program by attending all events and programs including during the weekends. 

  • Can I visit my student?
  • Yes. Students will be allowed to have visits from family during their free time. Family will be required to check in with staff before heading to the student's dorm. 

  • Is there a cost for step?
  • No. STEP is funded through a combination of financial aid and STEP funds. 

  • How can I support my with the STEP application?
  • Please make sure that your students is submitting all necessary forms and applications, including two FAFSA/Dream Act Applications. More information on application deadline and requirements can be found here.
